Back up and restore your database

Backups run on the schedule you set. You can make one yourself before important work, and restore from the Console.

  • Backups tab: see the list, make a backup yourself, and click Restore.
  • Backup storage is charged by the size kept per month. Keep fewer backups if you want to save money.
  • Backups you make yourself are kept for 90 days, then deleted. You’re warned by email and in the bell 7 days before. Click Extend 90 days to keep one longer: it’s free, as often as you like.
  • A database’s backups are deleted together with the database.
  • To restore without touching the database you have, use Restore to a new database, and turn on point-in-time recovery to restore to any second (see High availability and point-in-time recovery).

If something goes wrong

It says “ต้องเริ่มฐานข้อมูลก่อนสั่ง Backup” (Start the database before making a backup)

The database is stopped. Start it first, then try again.

It says “This backup can’t be restored from the console — open a ticket”

Our team needs to restore this backup for you. Open a ticket with the database name and the time of the backup.

I can’t delete the database

First unlink it from every container, and delete or promote all read replicas. If Deletion protection is on, turn it off in the settings first.

Still stuck? Let our team help

Open a ticket from the Console. Tell us the site or service, what you did and the message on screen. Our reply comes back in the same ticket, so everything stays in one place.
