Redis and Valkey, ready to use, with no server to set up

Keep data you read often in memory, take load off your database and make your app answer faster. Choose a size by the RAM you need; the password is generated for you, and we look after the server, the install and the backups.

What it is for

  • Sessions: keep sign-ins in one place so every instance of your app sees the same thing.
  • Caching: keep pages or query results you serve often and take load off the database.
  • Job queues: hand background work, such as sending email or building files, to a worker.
  • Rate limits and leaderboards: count requests per user and rank scores with sorted sets.

Looked after for you

  • Engines: Redis 7.2 or Valkey 8.1 / 9 (Valkey is open source and takes the same commands as Redis).
  • Sizes from 512 MB to 8 GB; size up or down later from the Console (the cache restarts once).
  • Data is written to disk (AOF) every second, so a restart loses nothing. The SSD is set up for you at twice the RAM.
  • Automatic backups on your schedule, backups on demand, and up to 5 read replicas.
  • Studio lets you browse keys and run commands from the Console, and you can import a Redis or Valkey .rdb file.

Connecting and cost

  • Containers in the same Project always connect over the VPC by internal DNS name; link them and the connection settings are set in your app for you.
  • Connect from outside through a TLS public endpoint, limited to the IP addresses you allow.
  • Billed by the hour for the vCPU, RAM and disk it is given; 512 MB starts at about $5.99 a month if it runs all month.
  • Backup storage is $0.06 per GB-month, and the servers are in Bangkok.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Redis and Valkey?

Valkey is an open-source fork of Redis that takes the same commands, so apps and libraries written for Redis work with Valkey. You can pick Redis 7.2 or Valkey 8.1 / 9.

Do I lose data when it restarts?

No. Data is written to disk (AOF) every second, and backups are taken on the schedule you set.

What happens when the data fills the RAM?

New writes are refused. Size up in the Console, or set an expiry on keys you do not need to keep for long.

How much does Managed Cache cost?

It is billed by the hour for the size you pick. 512 MB is about $5.99 a month if it runs all month; price other sizes on the pricing page.

Can I restore a backup myself?

Redis and Valkey backups are restored by our team. Open a ticket with the cache’s name and the time of the backup you want.
